Katherine C. Aquino, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Administrative and Instructional Leadership and Associate Dean for Innovation and Partnerships for The School of Education at St. John’s University. Katherine received a B.S. in Psychology, M.A. in School Psychology, and a Ph.D. in Higher Education Leadership, Management, and Policy. Katherine also has an advanced certificate in instructional design and delivery.
Katherine’s research focuses on disability and accessibility within the organizational environment. Katherine is dedicated to investigating the complexity of disability in the postsecondary setting. Her work has been published in the Journal of Diversity in Higher Education, Journal of College Student Development, and the Journal of Postsecondary Education and Disability, among others. Alongside her colleague, Dr. Adam R. Lalor, she is currently working on the book The New Accessibility in Higher Education: Disrupting the System for an Inclusive Future (to be published with Oxford University Press in early 2025).
Katherine has supported academic programs requiring accreditation and review from the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP), Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE), and the New York State Education Department (NYSED). She has significant experience in accreditation, assessment, and program review.
